London is the busiest helicopter charter market in Europe. There are more helicopter movements in and out of greater London on a typical Friday than in most other European capitals across a week.

Helicopter charter "in London" is rarely from one place. Five bases handle most of the volume:

• London Battersea Heliport (EGLW) — the only CAA-licensed heliport in central London. Three minutes to Chelsea, six to Mayfair, nine to the City. The default for any departure into or out of central London.
• Biggin Hill — SE London executive airport. Eight-minute helicopter ride from Battersea. Heavy use for jet connections.
• Farnborough — Surrey/Hampshire, the UK's busiest business jet airport. 14 minutes from Battersea.
• Heathrow — for commercial connection transfers, less common for executive jet but used routinely.
• Redhill Aerodrome — Surrey, our own home base, often used for positioning or as a Gatwick alternative.

The full UK base network — 22 locations in total — extends to Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh and the South Coast.

Battersea Heliport's exclusivity is not a marketing line — it is a regulatory reality. The Air Navigation Order restricts helicopter landings within 1,000 feet of any congested area, and central London is the most congested area in the UK.

Battersea is the only place in central London where a helicopter can legally land for commercial charter. The nearest alternative, Biggin Hill, is a 50-minute car ride from Mayfair on a quiet morning and over 90 minutes in traffic. The London charter market favours three aircraft for distinct reasons:

• Agusta A109 Grand SP — the default. Six passenger seats, fast cruise, IFR-capable, photogenic. Most London charters fly on this.
• Airbus H145 — when the party is 7–9 or comfort matters at full capacity. The most expensive but the largest cabin.
• Eurocopter AS355 Twin Squirrel — five seats, 25% cheaper than the A109. The value option for shorter routes and smaller groups.
