A helicopter wedding arrival or departure costs less than most couples expect, and the practical side is easier than the photos suggest — provided you start the conversation early enough.

The simplest helicopter wedding is a single landing and departure at the venue. 2026 indicative pricing:

• AS355 Twin Squirrel, single arrival or departure: from ~£4,500 all-in.
• Agusta A109 Grand SP, the elegant default — same single sortie: from ~£5,800 all-in.
• Both bride and groom together on the arrival: add ~30% for the second positioning.
• Bride/groom departure plus guest shuttle: priced as multiple sorties — typically £12,000–£20,000.

Almost certainly yes. We cover the legal framework and what makes a site suitable in our private landings article. The short version: any open ground roughly 30m clear, with a sensible approach, on a working estate or country venue, works.

The hard cases are urban venues and small suburban gardens. Both are usually solvable by landing at the nearest acceptable site and arranging a vintage-car transfer of the final mile — often more photogenic than a direct landing anyway.

Three considerations dominate:

• **Photography** — the A109's silhouette is the helicopter that gets shared. It is the wedding aircraft of choice.
• **Cabin comfort** — the Airbus H145 has the largest cabin and is the obvious pick for a bride in a structured gown. Air conditioning on the apron matters in July.
• **Cost** — for a single dramatic departure the AS355 Twin Squirrel is the value option and still photographs beautifully.

• **Bride arrival** — single landing at the venue, helicopter departs immediately.
• **Bride and groom departure** — couple board at the reception venue, depart for the wedding night hotel. Usually 8–15 minute flight.
• **Honeymoon transfer** — couple depart the reception venue, fly direct to an airport (most commonly Farnborough or Biggin Hill) for an onward jet.
• **Guest shuttle** — for large weddings, multiple sorties from a central pickup (often Battersea) to the venue. Usually 15–25 minute flights, 5 guests per sortie on the AS355.

Twelve things to confirm before the day:

• Landing-site location confirmed — pin, photos, what3words.
• Landowner permission in writing (your venue if it's their land).
• Approach path clear of wires, trees, marquees, fireworks gantries.
• Steward on the ground to keep guests back from the rotor disc.
• Backup site identified for weather.
• Weather contingency plan agreed — by what time on the day will go/no-go be called?
• Photographer briefed on safe distances and rotor downwash.
• Bride/groom briefed on how to approach the aircraft (always with a crew member, never from behind).
• Hair and headwear secured for downwash (5–10 mph wind effect within the rotor disc).
• Music timing aligned with arrival or departure if cued.
• Vintage-car transfer pre-positioned for the final mile if landing offsite.
• Onward leg confirmed (airport, hotel pickup) if part of a multi-leg booking.
